July 27, 2009 Update: The Law Committee has tabled the bill at the request of Legislator Steck.

July 2, 2009 Update: No action has been taken on the bill yet.  The Law Committee is scheduled to discuss the proposal at the July 27 meeting.

May 27, 2009 Update:  Several hundred people spoke out against the proposal at the May 26 public hearing.  The bill is expected to be voted out of the Law Committee sometime before the June 8 meeting of the full county legislature.

May 21, 2009 Update: The proposal is scheduled to be heard by the Law Committee on Wednesday May 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the 9^th Floor Caucus Room, 16 Eagle Street.

March 9, 2009: County Legislators Phillip Steck (D-15), Douglas Bullock (D-8) and Wanda Willingham (D-3) have drafted proposed Local Law "A" of 2009 requiring records be kept on all purchasers of ammunition within the county.  It has been refered to the Law Committee.

Gun owners are encouraged to contact their local legislators in opposition to this proposal.  Here is a listing of contact information for the county legislature.
